To Realize Ideal
Transportation
Service
Jakarta’s busy public activities require public
transportation that is fast, mass, convenient,
and affordable.
egapolitan Jakarta is home to more than 10
million people. As the centre of government,
Mtrade and economy, Jakarta must
accommodate millions of people who move around
the city in daily basis.
The Jabodetabek Transportation Management
Agency (BPTJ) of the Ministry of Transportation has
recorded that in 2018, there were at least 49.5 million
trips per day. Of that number, as many as 23.4
million people move within the city of Jakarta, while
the other 20.02 million are residents of Bogor, Depok,
Tangerang, Bekasi (Bodetabek) whose mobility is
from outside the city to the city of Jakarta.
This highly public activity needs to be supported
by fast, mass, comfortable, and affordable
public transportation. Jakarta itself already has
TransJakarta, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) transportation
system. Since 2004 until now, TransJakarta has been
operating in 13 corridors with number of passengers
reaching 264.6 million in 2019.
Besides TransJakarta, Jakarta also has rail-based
public transportation, namely the Integrated Moda
Raya (MRT) and the Integrat ed Railroad (LRT).
