Hunting Nasi Kapau

at Kramat Raya

In Jakarta, you can find vendors that sell nasi Kapau, a
special cuisine from Agam district, West Sumatra. The
legendary one is Nasi Kapau H. Zaidar, which allows you to
taste the original dish from nagari Kapau.

Jakarta. On that visit, they chose gulai tambusu (tripe

It didn’t take long to finish their favorite meals: gulai
tambusu, dendeng balado, also with vegetable curry
consists of cabbage, jackfruit curry and long beans.
Two of them eat with their hands—it seemed like they
really enjoyed their meal, with sweats on their face
while eating.

According to Rika, all dishes served in H. Zaidar stall
resemble the taste of her mother’s cooking, who is a
native of Agam district, West Sumatra. For that reason,
this Minang woman usually eats at H. Zaidar stall,
although there are many of Kapau-style rice sellers at
Jalan Kramat Raya. On that area alone, there are around
