karta (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) just
T had an outstanding achievement.
They finally won the Sustainable Trans-
port Award 2021 which already being an-
nounced last October in MOBILIZE Sum-
mit, an annual event held by Institute for
Transportation and Development (ITDP).
The awards ceremony will later be held
in January 2021.
The city with 10.6 millions residents
has transportation network that serves
around 30 millions residents living in Ja-
bodetabek, the areas surrounds Jakarta,
which beats many big cities in the world
like Auckland, Bogota, Buenos Aires,
Charlotte, Frankfurt, Moscow, San Fran-
sisco and Sao Paulo in terms of innova-
tions and transport development.
This winning makes Jakarta as the first 7 7
city in the Southeast Asia who wins the
prestigious award. In the previous year,
Jakarta won “Honorable Mention” from
the same award.
Sustainable Transport Award (STA) is
an annual award given to the cities that
has proved commitment, political will
and visions in sustainable transporta-
tion and city development. The first city
to win this prestigious honor was Bogota
city, Columbia, in 2005.
Every year, ITDP and the Sustainable
Transport Award Commitee select a city
that has implemented innovative sus-
tainable transportation programs. The
