the UMKM tren in Jakarta will always
develop. He who have handled “One
Kecamatan One Entrepreneur—OK
OCE” program saw the enthusiam to
do entrepreneurship was high.
“Besides, since the beginning (OK
OCE) Pemprov DKI has been targetting
200,000 of entrepreneurships, and
this would be a high potential, as the
UMKMs have massive contribution for
the economy, especially for Jakarta’s,”
said Faransyah.
Indeed, UMKMs have been the
main role in the economic cycle, es-
pecially in Jakarta. For years, UMKM
sector has sustained the econom-
ic growth in Jakarta. The Statistic of
Jakarta (BPS) recorded the economic
growth in 2019 was 5.9%, higher than
the national’s economic growth. From
the total, 75.48% of it came from the
tertiary sector which is UMKM. The
tertiary sectors included wholesale
and retail trades, transportation and
distribution, tourism and entertain- 7
ment, hotel and restaurants.
UMKM also contributed by its abil-
ity to hire employees, hence to sup-
press the numbers of unemployment
in Jakarta. Eventhough the employ-
ment are still dominated by the UMB,
UMK can be a great alternative to em-
ploy those who havent been employed
by the UMB.
According to BPS, there are cur-
rently 64.93% employees in UMB
while the rest of it, around 35.07% are
in UMK (2.5 millions people). Though
they have different capability in re-
ceiving workers, each UMK practitio-
ner will recruit at least two workers.
