For Charunisyah Nasution, the vice chair-
man I of Driving Team at Jakarta’s Family
Welfare Movement (PKK), this mask-wear-
ing campaign has its own challenge. Al-
though the distribution and the campaign
itself was easy to hold, it’s hard to make
public to implement the mask-wearing 17
thoroughly. As we can see, from a total of
1,023 masks being distributed by the PKK
team to the public, there are many of them
who are still reluctant to use masks when
going outside.

The provincial government of Jakarta has
imposed several sanctions to residents
who are still hesitant to wear mask. Since
PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restriction) was
imposed, 5 billions rupiahs were collected
from the violations. From that amount of
fine, out of 72.2 millions was from violators
who did not wear mask in public places.

All of the violations by the citizens encour-
aged Jakarta government to prepare re-
gional regulation plan (raperda) about
the prevention of COVID-19. It mentions the
detail of the residents’ duty to wear mask
and to comply with the current health pro-
tocols. The regulation for wearing mask is
being stated in article 8 verse 1a. It is ex-
pected that this regulation will raise peo-
ple awareness to use masks.
