If the level of compliance to
mask-wearing reaches 85%,
the spread of COVID-19 virus in
Jakarta will be in control.

t turns out that mask-wearing be-
comes the best way to help curb the
I spread of COVID-19. Though ironical-
ly, many still not aware of the impor-
tance. According to a study conducted
by Faculty of Public Health, University of
16 16 Indonesia, public level of compliance in
Jakarta still below the standard. The re-
sult of the study suggested that pub-
lic level of compliance in wearing mask
will be good enough if the percentage
reaches 85%, and if the percentage still
below that standard, the level of com-
pliance will remain low.

Today, it is beneficial to use masks,
especially in the midst of pandemic.
By wearing mask, we can control the
transmission of COVID-19 as its source
of transmission, which comes from the
droplets, will be hindered by the mask.
But, we can’t use random mask to pre-
vent the spread of COVID-19. There are
two standards for mask: cloth mask and
medical mask. It’s recommended to use
cloth mask for general public, as medi-
cal mask should be used by the medi-
cal workers.

Besides the types of masks, we should
pay attention to how to use them. We
should wear mask properly: it should
cover the nose and chin, to the sides of
our face. It should be used for no longer
than four hours.
